Colog conducted natural and spectral gamma logging, EM induction conductivity and magnetic susceptibility logging using portable equipment at four corehole sites in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Our lithologic analysis of the downhole geophysical data were confirmed and correlated with core samples and, in conjunction with sedimentological, geochemical and biological studies from other scientific teams, helped construct basin-wide paleolandscape models in the contexts of hominin activities (specifically relating to human evolution), the basin’s structure, lacustrine history and regional climate history.
