Sensitive Environmental Study
Multiple logging measurements were needed to design optimal remediation plans at an environmentally sensitive site. A study performed for two different clients at this southern CA location involved Optical Televiewer and Acoustic Televiewer, along with EM Induction Conductivity, Fluid Temperature and Fluid Conductivity, 3-Arm Caliper, Electric Resistivity logging, Downhole Video and Corehole Dynamic Flowmeter for fracture-specific flow, orientation, permeability and head (water-level in fractures). The acoustic televiewer – used in conjunction with the optical televiewer when water was too cloudy – were used in tandem with a flow-logging program, utilizing a Corehole Dynamic Flowmeter. Geophysical logging and flow-logging was used along with Wireline Straddle-Packer (WSP) testing and sampling. The same standard geophysical logging truck configuration was used for all studies: geophysical logging, flow-logging and packer testing and sampling, making the operation time and cost-effective. Data were used to evaluate the fracture-networks on site, identify which conducted water and which of those contained aqueous-phase contaminants.
